The Basket of Goodies

The Basket of Goodies

In the twilight of the dying day, your inner child  comes out to play
Unbeknownst to you , you pass her by and leave for her a gift behind
A basket of goodies, to her delight
You've left her wonderful gifts shining bright
Eagerly she sits down to play
Sifting through the remnants of your day

Oooooh, resentment this is a big one for sure
You really like resentment, she'll give you some more
Self deprection, self pity, guilt and shame
What wonderful treasures, she'll make more of the same

A little laughter a little love, a little joy
She'll make a little of those, boy-oh-boy
Sifting and sorting and chortling with glee
Your inner child makes more of what you've decided to be

Enthusiastic and joyful and eager to please
She makes more of what you have with ease
She has no judgement
She asks not why
She gives you more with eagerness and joy

Is it helpful? is it harmful?  She really doesn't care
It's in your basket and you put it there
And your inner child just wants to play
Building castles from the thoughts and expectations of your day

And your castles can be built with joy and with peace
With thriving, and loving and grace and ease
Your castles are made of whatever you choose
Just leave in your basket the thoughts of your good

So, this night as you drift off to sleep
Give thought to the things you wish to keep
Fill up your basket with wonderful things
And on your waking your inner child  brings
More of whatever you claim as your truth
Claim now your joy, your health, your youth

Claim now your love, harmony and goodwill
Claim now your dreams and let your doubts be still
And in the twilight of the dying day
Bless your inner child as she comes out to play.

Author’s note

This post is inspired by the work of Neville Goddard.  I am now reading his book -  Feeling Is The Secret.

Over and over he impresses on us the absolute importance of the thoughts we hold as we drift into sleep.   He encourages us to vividly imagine and feel the reality of our desired circumstance as we drift into sleep.  He holds this as the key to transformation in our lives.
Your subconscious impressions determine the conditions of your world. The subconscious is not selective; it is impersonal and no respecter of persons [Acts 10:34; Romans 2:11].
The subconscious is not concerned with the truth or falsity of your feeling. It always accepts as true that which you feel to be true. Feeling is the assent of the subconscious to the truth of that which is declared to be true.
Your feelings create the pattern from which your world is fashioned, and a change of feeling is a change of pattern.
